Young Life Urban Retreat

Just got back from Philly where my good friend Mike Newton brought me out to dj for a Young Life Camp. I went last year with CZ and Verbs but this time I went solo.

Mike flew me into Philly which was a great experience. I had never been that far out to the East Coast so I definitely had culture shock. Last year I flew in from Texas to Nashville then drove to Virginia for the camp so I still felt like I was in the South. But this year, Mike moved to Philadelphia, so we drove to camp from there.

While in Philly I got to see a "fight" break out on the plane, experience below zero weather, and hit up one of the largest malls in America. I also had no clue that the inauguration was going on and that we would be driving right by D.C. . I didnt get to see any of it but hey... still cool to be in the area ;) .

Camp was good, like most Young Life facilities, every thing is so pimpalicious. Its like a retreat, with nice rooms, and soo much to do. Since its the winter the kids mostly have to stay in the lounging areas. But they dont mind because there are plenty of pool and ping-pong tables, an amazing snack bar, and cozy furniture to kick it in. About 400 Kids from D.C., Virginia, North and South Carolina and Kentucky areas come to this camp. I was nervous this go around not having my friends (Verbs and CZ) with me but Mike Newton aka Dj Noodle took awesome care of me.

Highlights of camp were the "program team", Sophia Cox the guest speaker, watching football games with the staff and helping with the well put on talent show. I also got to dj a "dance" night this year. I think it was a first for the kids and I was excited about stretching them a little. These kids taste in music was definitely a stretch for me but I think they really enjoyed it.

I got to connect with kids more this year since it was my second time out and meet alot of new people. When we got back to Philly, Mike and I ghetto rigged a new dj setup for him in his roommates basement.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out this weekend and made me feel welcome. Im already missing everyone...

THANKS FOR THE GREAT TRIP!!!

If you know someone who's been through an abortion, or watched someone go through one, you know that in the end it only brings pain to everyone involved. Not only does it take the life of a child but it creates a hurt inside people that can destroy their lives.

We live in such a great country but things like this remind me that THIS IS NOT MY HOME!!!

Lord, change the hearts of those in power and in authority over us, create in them a new heart...

UFC92 vs Syntax Records (pics)

Check for the Syntax Logo!!! I think this is Spirit Wolf who is sporting the Syntax Logo. The reason I think that is because not to long ago Red Cloud did up an intro song for him. (correct me if I'm wrong)

Bobby Duran - Steeler Nation Rise Song

Hey Everyone,
Some fun news, I got invited to be apart of a recording and writing process with a friend of mine Joby Harris who grew up in Pittsburgh who's a devote Steelers fan. So I added my vocal and DJ cuts to it and we submitted it to the NFL and Steelers org to see if they would pick it up as their theme song. Well, this last week it got radio play in Pittsburgh @ 5 pm peak traffic time. So we shall see, I don't know about you all, or if you even care but I'm going to the Steelers this year for the super bowl, who know you may hear our song on national TV!!!

Rain System EP - Othello & Dj Manuel

I've found myself having to go through lot's of music these days. Even when I buy it, I sometimes dont get to listen to a cd for months at a time because I'm "backed up" with music. I bought Othello & Dj Manuel's - Rain System EP like 2-4 months ago and just put it on today. I havent even made it through the cd and I love this thing.

It has a fresh sound away from the normal "positive" music I listen to so I'm sure you will like it as well. All the samples are hot, Othello smashes it for sure and the beats are feeding my bboy hunger so it was WELL WORTH THE BUY.

Listen to it and pick it up on Othello's Myspace and be sure to tell him what you think about it!

Save Me From Myself - New Videos and Album

If you liked the rock band KORN you probably remember HEAD who received the Lord as his Saviour, quit the band and now shares about Christ. It was a long wait but he looks like he's got a strong foundation in this and is coming hard!!!

Below are two videos... first his testimony video and the second a song named Flush from his new album release... Watch and Share!!!

I havent gotten the new album yet, Save Me From Myself, but Im going to. The debut song Flush sounds pretty good. I want a little more energy but maybe it's just his voice that doesnt hit me hard enough yet. It's definately "dark", if that bothers you any... this probably ain't for you. Cop it and tell me what you think. Here are the download links!!! PS. He also pressed up 1000 copies on Vinyl that are signed and autographed on his website... someone buy me one!!! ;)

Franktown Rocks Kaboose

Just got an email about Kaboose showing at FranktownRocks.com's Theater. Amazing!!! This is a site for children where they can interact and create a character and "live" in Franktown. I just headed over to Franktown.com and created my own account and watched KABOOSE'S GOIN OUTTA CONTROL VIDEO!!!

Remember I scratched on this so when you hear the "chickkachaaaa" and see the record thats my part... ;) What a blessing. Now kids all over the country will be singing alonging with Syntax Records and the body of Christ. Thank the Lord for a positive message that kids can listen to and be inspired to seek deeper.

So if you got kids... create a free 3-day account to listen and watch Kaboose's music in the Franktown Theatre and Music Store!

Mike Rowe on Discovery, Realization and Lamb Castration

This is right up my alley... Passion, Work... very insightful. The guy from Dirty Jobs, Mike Rowe, talks about something he realized after doing all those Dirty Job's episodes on the Discovery Channel. It's long but it's a good speech. It even gives you the option to download this video and save it to your computer to keep and share.

Kaboose feat. Royce Da 5'9" - "Goin' Outta Control"

Kaboose's premier video is out online at Yahoo! before it hits the "airwaves". This song features a notorious MC from Detroit, ROYCE Da 5'9' (might have seen him with Eminem). I had the privileged of scratching on this song (plus every song on the Kaboose's full length album so GO GET IT!!!) available at Qualityjunk, Amazon and iTunes... (my favorites ;)
